Day 365 One Year of Photography

Fred
365 Days

One year of photographs each day keeping the faith and turning up and being the best that you can be on that day and at any given time.  Being human means you don't always get it right but so long as you keep with your principles and looking forward there will always be tomorrow. Take care of the ones you love and never loose your faith in mankind.  This has been a great project to be involved in thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me a tremendous amount over the year, I really appreciate it.  Thank you to the occasional guest contributor and for your supportive comments.  Most of all I would like to than the people who unwittingly went along and formed the content of this interesting look into other peoples lives. Without them there would be no strangers and we would not be the voyeurs.  The book is almost completed now and I will let you all know when it is available.

Day 362

Wendy's Biggie this is a T.Shirt for all the women in the world called Wendy!  I can see a new T.Shirt design that would rival Frankie Says Relax, Sarah's Biggies, Avril's Biggies, Anna's Biggies, Amanda's Biggies and so on and so on until we get to Zandra's Biggies...colour font size name variations there is not limit to the combination of T. Shirt fun for the happy entrepreneur...there you go another million dollar idea.

Day 360

Social Documentary Photography:  I think this photograph epitomises what this project has been about.  To the casual viewer it is just a number of people crossing a road, however, a camera allows you to step into communities and situations and take a look and also to step back, reflect and comment. Contemporary documentary photography is not a unified form but neither is it a defunct or endangered area of photographic practice. It is simply that its contexts, visual styles and the motivations of the photographers are various.
As this project draws to a close it has focused mainly on the life and times of people in Hong Kong over the last year, from the mundane to the opportunist photograph that reflects some of the drama, humour and the mundane of life as it unfolded in front of the camera.  Hong Kong is a unique city frenetic at times yet also some of the characters that form this project remain reflective and still.  The images isolated,  act as a mirror of my own interaction with the people and also capture a moment in time where the viewer is but an observer on a moment that has immediately passed and will never be again.

Day 358

A grown man should not really have a little girls Micky Mouse umbrella unless he can claim to have a shirt with a matching colour!

Day 357

I tried to discover a little something to make me sweeter
Oh baby refrain from breaking my heart
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason, you know you're making me work so hard
That you give me no that you give me that you give me no. . . Soul
I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me.

And if I should falter, would you open your arms out to me?
We can make love not war, and live in peace with our hearts
I'm so in love with you, I'll be forever blue
What religion or reason could drive a man to forsake his lover?
Don't you tell me no. . . Soul.
I hear you calling
Oh baby please, give a little respect to me.

I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason
You know you're making me work so hard
That you give me no. Soul.
I hear you calling.
Oh baby, please give a little respect to me.
Oh baby, please give a little respect to me.

Day 356

Red is the new black.  Downtown Mong Kok at the busy corner.  This project is rapidly coming to a close the last few days running up to 365..almost one year of photography, each day a discipline and a commitment.  We should carry it on into our everyday life.

Day 355

The Lap Sap Lady: the lady on the streets on a hot day sorting out the cardboard and plastic bottles, recycling at its best?  These ladies work so hard right on until old age often pushing large loads of cardboard and other recycled material around the streets of Hong Kong at all hours of the day and even the night.

Day 354

Coffee, Big boots and cigarettes. One of my favourite big girl photos in Hong Kong always sure to provide a interesting backdrop for the casual stranger caught up in a contemplative cup of coffee and a cigarette.

Day 347

I caught these lovely ladies having a nap in the middle of the day propped up against their painting. Great work by the Tanka artists guess it was all too much for these Ladies.

Day 345

Green head and phone box.

This was a well crafted shot I pursued this lady as she stood around this wonderful vibrant phone box. I had at least three failed attempt to capture her against this intrusive colour back ground so that she was framed in colour. This was in a town called Gyantse in Tibet. No more than a set of crossroads and one amazing temple and an old fort that was unfortunately closed but it has a wonderful "Anti British" museum.

Day 323

Sometimes some combinations of clothing just dont work. Through no fault of their own you understand. Its then you need a true Friend to say to you...sorry but no...always never shy away from being that true friend. If your friend is your friend then he or she will always be grateful you are there.

Day 321

New Boots and Panties

Boots bag and wellies...all matching well almost I almost felt like running after this lady to get a front view but then the man jumping in the frame like an Edvard Munch figure leaves the image with an eerie edge to it. Scream meets Kathy Aitchison...an interesting concept for a Fa Yeung Street as yest untapped.
